What is colour correction?
The short answer
Colour correction is any colour service that fixes a result you are unhappy with, such as brassy, patchy or too-dark colour, rather than starting from untouched hair.
Because corrected hair has already been coloured, sometimes more than once, it behaves less predictably than natural hair. That is why the plan, and the price, depend on seeing it in person and knowing its history. With nearly 20 years of experience, Tara plans a correction around what your hair can safely take, even if that means reaching your colour over more than one visit.
Common corrections.
Brassy or orange blonde
Toned back to a softer, cleaner shade, and lifted further where the hair needs it. Often a single visit.
Patchy or banded colour
Uneven sections blended so the colour reads as one, which can take more than one visit if the bands are strong.
Box dye or colour that went too dark
Built-up colour lifted out gently and in stages, which usually means two or more visits.
Going back to your natural colour
Lightened lengths blended back towards your own shade, so regrowth stops being a hard line.

How much does colour correction cost?
Colour correction is priced at your consultation, because it depends on what your hair has had and where you want it to go. Tara confirms the plan, how many visits it is likely to take, and the price before any colour goes on.
Can my colour be fixed in one visit?
Smaller fixes, like brassy or uneven tone, can often be done in one visit of around 3 to 5 hours. Bigger changes, such as lifting out box dye or going much lighter, usually take 2 to 3 visits spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart, so your hair has time to recover in between.
Will colour correction damage my hair?
Any lightening asks a lot of hair, which is why a correction goes in stages rather than all at once. Tara uses premium colour from brands like Kevin.Murphy and Redken Shades EQ, and a strengthening treatment can be added to protect condition further.
What should I tell Tara before my appointment?
Everything your hair has had, including box dye, henna, keratin or smoothing treatments, and any recent lightening, with roughly how long ago. It all changes what is possible in one visit and what is kind to your hair.
